Jesuit Education is inspired by St. Ignatius’ world view which is termed as Ignatian Pedagogy Paradigm. With this methodology we foresee a complete transformation of a person as well as the society at large.

Few words from the Principal

Fr. Ravi Bhushan Xess, S.J.

My priestly vocation in the Society of Jesus has a long story. It trace back to June 1997 when I joined Pre-novitiate as a young candidate after completing my Intermediate Science from Seventh Day Adventist Higher Secondary School, Tanjore (Tamil Nadu).I clearly recall, initially I had a hard time because I opted a life which demanded discipline, devotion, determination and a deep desire to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. My freedom was curtailed and I surrendered my life completely to God. With the passage of time I was able to tune my life in the symphony of Jesuit Order.

After a long rigorous training of seventeen years, I was finally ordained a priest on 1st February, 2015 by His eminence Cardinal Telesphore P. Toppo. I shall ever remain indebted to St. Xavier’s School, Doranda where my priestly Ordination was solemnized. It was not only a moment of joy and pride for me alone but for the school as well since I was the first student to be a Jesuit priest from that school.

On 2nd March, 2015 I received my first appointment as the Administrator of St. Xavier’s Junior and Degree College, Sonabheel (Assam). As a regent I had already pitched my tent there in 2010, so it was an advantageous avenue to explore new possibilities this time. Since I play guitar, it hardly took me time to get along closer with the students because North East India as we know is well known for music. Besides an administrator I was also the hostel prefect and an English teacher. Before the end of the year I received another appointment as the Principal of St. Ignatius’ English Medium School, Gumla. On 27th February, 2016 I arrived to Gumla and took over the new responsibility and it continues till today. Our main thrust in running this school is to bring about cognitive, attitudinal and behavioural transformation in each child so that they become an agent of change in their own society.
